Suspect shot by Deputies

On January 17, 2005 at approximately 12:11 AM, Deputies responded to a disturbance call at 1042 Lookout Tower Road in Blacksburg. The complaint was about loud noise. Deputies spoke with the homeowner and left.

Deputies received another call at 1:51 AM at the same location about a domestic call. Deputies spoke to the parties involved and left.

Deputies then received a call at 2:34 AM at the same location involving a shooting with injuries.

When Deputies arrived, they were met by one subject who had been shot in the face. Deputies then were confronted by a white male, Alfred Daniel Behney, age 42. Behney approached Deputies in the yard and threatened them with a long sharp object. At that time a Deputy fired one shot, killing Behney.

After a search of the house, Deputies found a second subject who had been shot.

A white male was transported to a Spartanburg hospital by helicopter with a suspected gunshot injury to the face and a white female was transported to Upstate Carolina Medical Center with a suspected gunshot injury to the stomach.

SLED has been asked to investigate the incident and SLED's Crime Scene Unit was on site gathering evidence.

All Deputies involved began a seven day break and should return to work pending SLED's investigation.
