2007 Sheriff's Ride for the Relay rescheduled
Due to the projected weather forecast for rain, Sheriff Bill Blanton
announced that the 2007 Ride for the Relay has been postponed until
Saturday, May 12, 2007.
The event will still be held at Gaffney Middle School on E. Frederick St. in
Gaffney. Registration will be held from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Tickets are
$25.00 per person, which includes the ride, meal, prizes, and a tee shirt.
The event started as a means to raise money for the fight against cancer
when Sheriff Blanton's wife, Pam, was diagnosed with breast cancer.
The event involves a motorcycle ride leaving Gaffney Middle School and
traveling about 85 miles arriving back at Gaffney Middle School for a meal
and give-a-ways.
People who do not ride can still come, bring the children and enjoy the
bikes, live music, meal furnished by Outback, and can buy a tee shirt.
We will have several police motorcycles including the SC Highway Patrol and
bikes from other police departments as well taking part in the ride.
Anyone who has cancer or has a loved one suffering from this terrible
disease can come by and donate money in honor of or memory of that special
person.
All the money raised will be given to the American Cancer Society "Relay For
Life".
