Woman arrested for providing contraband to inmate
Agents with the Cherokee County Metro Narcotics Unit have charged a Rutherford County woman with providing drugs and contraband to her son who is an inmate at the Cherokee County Detention Center.
Cathy Sue Roach, age 56, of 181 Maple St, Apt 3, Rutherfordton County N.C., has been charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Alprazolam, a schedule IV narcotic, and Providing Contraband to an Inmate.
Her son, Kenneth Bryan Daves, who is an inmate at the Cherokee County Detention Center has been charged with Possession of Alprazolam and Possession of Contraband by an Inmate.
Roach is accused of dropping off the narcotics and cigarettes at a set location outside the detention center and then Daves, who is an outside trustee, would then retrieve them.
Daves, who is serving time for non-support, has been placed in the detention center lockdown and Roach is being held awaiting a bond hearing.
