Phony utility workers in Cherokee County
On May 17, 2005, at least two subjects pretending to be Duke Power employees approached an individual on Old Georgia Highway and stated that they were marking trees. The next morning the home owner found his safe had been broken into and several items stolen.
Police believe that one subject kept the home owner busy outside while the other went into the home and stole the items from the safe.
One subject was a white male, the second subject is unknown. The subjects were driving a full size black truck that had a red light on top.
The same individuals are also believed to have committed the same type of crime in Spartanburg County and Union County on the same day.
People are asked to be aware of this kind of incident and should call 911 if approached by these individuals.
