Deputies arrest NC man after two state chase

 

On July 28, 2004 at approximately 6:25 pm, Deputies were dispatched to 1948 N. Limestone St. in Gaffney in reference to a subject attempting to remove a vehicle without the owner's consent. Upon arrival, Lt. Tracy Fowler found a white male in a Ford F-250 attempting to tow a vehicle. Lt. Fowler asked the subject to exit the truck at which time the individual left the scene at a high rate of speed. Lt. Fowler began pursuit attempting to stop the truck using lights and sirens. The chase continued onto Boiling Springs Hwy. into North Carolina at which time Lt. Fowler terminated pursuit and North Carolina authorities continued.

 

Approximately 20 minutes later, the suspect crossed the state line back into Cherokee County where pursuit was taken up again by Deputy Alex Hammond. The chase was ended at the intersection of N. Mountain St. and White's Farm Rd. when Deputy Hammond blocked the suspect's vehicle with his patrol car. Damage to both vehicles was minimal.

 

Jimmy Van Little, 50 years old, of 2332 Emerald Mine Rd in Shelby, NC was arrested. Mr. Little has been charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Failure to Stop For a Blue Light. Other charges are likely from North Carolina and Cherokee County, SC. Mr. Little is currently being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center pending further charges and a bond hearing.
