Couple arrested for drug charges
 

Detectives with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office have charged a Cherokee County couple with several drug charges and seized property and cash.

Metro Captain David Oglesby has charged Norma Riddle Welch, age 53, of 296 Burnt Mill Road, Blacksburg with Trafficking Marijuana More Than 10 Pounds and Manufacturing Marijuana.

Her husband Dennis Eugene Welch, age 52 of the same address has also been charged with Trafficking Marijuana More Than 10 Pounds, Manufacturing Marijuana, and Possession of Diazepam.

The arrests came following a late night search of the Welch’s home. Agents also seized four vehicles, an ATV, and 24,000.00 in cash. Bond for Norma Welch was set at $30,000.00 and for Dennis Welch, at $50,000.00.
