Charges made in convenience store murder

Two suspects wanted for the murder of Nitesh Patel at Jed's Convenience Store on September 2 in Blacksburg, have been arrested in Shelby N.C. this morning.

The two suspects robbed a store in Kings Mountain. N.C. late Tuesday afternoon and then tried to rob another store in Shelby this morning. A Shelby police officer entered the store to use the rest room while the robbery was in progress. The male suspect ran and was captured near the store.

The female suspect was caught in the vehicle. Police recovered a gun believed to belong to Nitesh Patel and another gun believed to be the murder weapon.

Detective Mike Fowlkes has charged both with murder, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during a crime.

Both are currently being held in the detention center in Cleveland County, NC.

Authorities in N.C. will hold a press conference at the Cleveland County Law Enforcement Center at 2:00pm today.
