Suspect arrested for Armed Robbery

On October 22, 2004 at approximately 11:55 am, a black male entered the Cherokee Food Mart located at 910 Cherokee Avenue in Gaffney. The black male approached the clerk with a firearm and demanded money from the register. When the clerk activated the panic alarm, the black male fled and ran behind the store.

Deputies were dispatched to the incident location and called for assistance from the Sheriff's Office Bloodhound Tracking Team. The Tracking Team followed a trail from the incident location to a residence on Railroad Avenue. Wallace Hollis, a 24 year old black male from Gaffney, was arrested at the residence and has been charged with Armed Robbery by Detective Tim Clark of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

Immediately after the initial call, Sheriff Bill Blanton notified Mary Bramlett Elementary School of the search and had the school initiate lockdown procedures. School officials were notified of the arrest in order to return to normal procedures.
