Two charged with breaking into vehicles

Deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office were responding to a call from the Hampton Inn on 115 Nancy Creek Road in Gaffney about an unknown male breaking into vehicles.

When Deputies arrived at 2:20 AM, they met a 1999 Ford Explorer leaving the parking lot at a high rate of speed. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused and traveled approximately 1 mile where the vehicle wrecked at the intersection of Old Post Road and Nancy Creek Road.

The vehicle was occupied by a male and female and was loaded with personal belongings, including many Christmas gifts, which were stolen from as many as seven vehicles parked at the Hampton Inn.

Charged are:

Daryl Byers, age 42

Camille Connor, age 36

Greenville, SC

Both are charged with breaking into motor vehicles and Byers will be charged with Failure to Stop for a Blue Light and Driving Under Suspension.
