Several suspects arrested in drug crackdown

In an effort to fight illegal drug sales in the area around 4th Street, officers with the Sheriff’s Office have arrested several suspects who are major players in the sale and distribution of illegal drugs in this neighborhood.

The undercover operation which has been on going for several months targeted drug dealers in and around 4th Street. Several of those arrested have extensive drug records and are out on bonds resulting from selling drugs around this area.

Arrested are:

James Steen 200 Leadmine St Gaffney DOB 11-23-70

Charged with: 1- PWID crack cocaine 2- PWID crack proximity of school 3- PWID of Schedule-IV drugs 4- PWID Schedule IV drugs with proximity of school 2counts 5- Poss. Schedule I, II, III drugs 6- Poss. of Schedule II drugs 7- PWID Schedule IV drugs When these arrest began on Monday, Steen was in jail for other drug charges. Steen’s bond for these charges has not been set yet.

Michael Lee Davidson 633 4th Street Gaffney DOB 6-26-73

Charged with: 1- PWID crack cocaine with proximity of school - 2 counts 2- Distribution of crack cocaine - 2 counts At the time of his arrest on Monday, Davidson was out on $115,000 bond for 5 counts of distribution of crack cocaine and 5 counts of distribution of crack cocaine with proximity of school. Sheriff’s Narcotics officers have been working with DEA agents targeting drug dealers and Davidson is expected to be indicted in Federal Court after the first of the year. At a bond hearing this date, Davidson’s bond was set at $140,000

Luther Eugene Dawkins 633 4th Street Gaffney DOB 5-6-72

Charged with: 1- Distribution of crack cocaine 2- Distribution of crack cocaine with proximity of school At the time of his arrest on Monday, Dawkins was out of jail on $105,000 bond for 3 counts of distribution of crack cocaine, 1 count of PWID crack cocaine, 1 count of poss of marijuana, 3 counts of distribution of crack cocaine with proximity of school, and 1 count of PWID crack cocaine with proximity of school. Dawkins was also on home detention when he is accused of selling drugs. At a bond hearing this date, Dawkins’s bond was denied.

Cedric Bernard Mayes 125 Cudd Street Gaffney DOB 12-5-86

Charged with: 1- Distribution of crack cocaine - 4 counts 2- Distribution of crack cocaine with proximity of school- 4 cnts. At the time of his arrest on Monday, Mayes was out on $75,000 bond for Trafficking Marijuana, PWID Sch-IV drugs, Poss. Of Schedule IV drugs - 2 counts, and failure to stop for blue light. At a bond hearing today, Mayes’s bond was set at $200,000

Thomas Nicholas Valentine 610 Davis Street Gaffney DOB 6-5-81

Charged with : 1- Distribution of crack cocaine - 2 counts 2- Distribution of crack cocaine with proximity of school - 2 counts At a bond hearing held today, Valentine’s bond was set at $80,000

Curtis Terrell Wilkins 305 Magnolia Street Gaffney DOB 8-1-76

Charged with- 1- Distribution of crack cocaine 2- Distribution of crack cocaine with proximity of school 3- Manufacturing crack cocaine 4- PWID of schedule I and II drugs with proximity of school 5- Distribution of schedule I drugs At a bond hearing today, Wilkins bond was set at $60,000

Joshua Grant Wilson 802 Concord Rd. Gaffney DOB 10-28-86

Charged with: 1- Distribution of crack cocaine - 3 counts 2- Distribution of crack cocaine with proximity of school At a bond hearing held today, Wilson’s bond was set at $120,000

Brian Davidson 633 4th Street Gaffney DOB 10-28-78

Charged with: 1- Poss. Of marijuana No bond set yet.

These suspects were arrested on Monday. Agents are still looking for several more individuals connected with this operation. This operation was headed up by Agent Todd Parker with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
