Methamphetamine Training and Education Program

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office received a grant from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety to attend the Methamphetamine Training and Education Program. The program was designed to:

• help law enforcement agencies protect their officers who are involved in clandestine methamphetamine lab investigations from harm or injury due to hazardous materials,

• provide the tools for effective investigative work, and

• educate citizens in South Carolina's growing methamphetamine manufacturing and distribution problem.

The program was a collaborative effort that included the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, Drug Enforcement Agency,  South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and the U.S Attorney's Office.

The training program was held at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia, SC May 3-7, 2004. Detective Mike Gibson from the Sheriff's Office Metro Narcotics Division attended and successfully completed the training.
